According to a recent study at the University of Arizona’s Human-Animal Research Initiative, kissing your best canine friend could be good for your health. That’s great news for those of you who happen to know that YOUR best canine friend gives the very best slobbery smooches! Why, you ask? Because you and your pooch not only have a shot at some amazing photo ops, but the pooch deemed the “Numero Uno with the Very Best Slobbery Smooches” at this year’s Twin Cities Pet Con will not only be the envy of bazillions of other canines and their companions – you’ll both win some super awesome prizes! Be there or be square!

12:00 Cactus Power Hydration Station
Animals suffer from dry and itching skin, hot paws, chewed paws, floor sores, which can lead to excessive shedding and hair loss. This short presentation will provide insight into how we can better help our pets overcome these dermatological issues and more importantly, these discomforts with the use of plant based topicals infused with hemp and or CBD products.

12:30 The Adoptable Parade of Rescue Pets
Try not to squeal with delight as our various rescue groups parade around the stage with some of their select pets in need of forever homes! Rescue group representatives will also be available to provide information on adopting a new pet companion. Please remember, adopt don’t shop!

1:00 The power of nutrition with Paw Tree, Elka Bostwick
Learn all about reading pet food/supplement labels and the power of nutrition for your pet. It’s vital to know what is in your pets food and how a healthy, balanced diet can lead to more years with your best four legged friend! Join Traci with Paw Tree as she teaches you the importance of finding the right diet for your pet.

2:00 Pet Musical Chairs Competition
Musical Chairs is a doggy variation of the classic children’s game. Music plays as handlers walk with their dog’s off-leash counter-clockwise around a circle of chairs. When the music stops, the handlers instruct their dogs to sit by verbal request and hand signal only (i.e., without touching them) and rush to sit on a vacant chair in the circle. Last dog (and person) sitting wins!

Discussion topics include:
– Benefits of using essential oils for keeping dogs and cats healthy and happy;
– Dispelling the myths around essential oils and pets;
– Safe practices for using essential oils with pets; and,
– Specific treatment of common pet problems.
Stick around for a brief Q & A after the presentation.

3:30 Animals Got Talent!™Pet Talent Contest
Does your pet have an amazing talent? Of course, they do! Then it’s a good thing that bragging rights are up for grabs because this is your pet’s chance to show off and awe us all with their mad skills! Animals Got Talent!™ Pet Talent Contest consists of three categories “best trick overall”, “most creative trick”, and “silliest trick”. Audience applause will determine the winner of a fabulous prizes.

4:00 The Biggest, Baddest, Bestest Pet Costume Contest Evah!!
Pet supermodels sashaying their costumed selves on the Pet Expo’s (err, very makeshift) catwalk? Um, yes please, and we’ll take a second serving too, thankyouverymuch! Show off your pet dressed in their costumed best for the super popular Pet Costume Contest! Any pet is welcome to participate, whether they’re canine, feline, porcupine, or just simply divine. There’s just one itsy bitsy teeny tiny caveat to be eligible to win, your pet must wear a costume. Audience applause will determine first, second, and third-place winners. You can be confident that we’ve had extensive totally-scientific training in judging these types of things and can quickly identify audience enthusiasm down to a single clap too. To enter, bring your pet to the Contest Stage by 4:05 PM and be ready to work, sashay, shante!

Oh. My. Gawd. Becky, look at that mutt. Her smile’s so… big. We can’t believe it’s so round. We mean, it’s so out there… Oh, sorry, you caught us singing along to one of our favorite tunes by Sir Barks-A-Lot. Anyway, does your pet have a smile that lights up a room? Is he/she just the happiest pooch who’s ever wagged their way onto a dance floor? Yes? Then this is the contest for you and your best pet friend! The Happiest Pet, Biggest Smile Contest consists of two categories “happiest pet” and “biggest smile”. Audience applause will determines who wins a fabulous prize!

Don’t miss the high-flying, amazing performances from The Fur-tastic K9’s. Check out the team of 6 skilled, trained, professional dogs as they perform stunts and tricks and show off their obedience and ability. Born and raised in New York, Felicia Foy has been training dogs for several years. With a love for dogs and trick training, k9 performance was a natural fit for Felicia. The Fur-tastic K9’s have performed with Canine Stars & Houston Disc Dogs, at various national pet events and their videos have been featured on Good Morning America! See their performances on Saturday and Sunday and join them for a training workshop each day.
